The film was originally set to be released on October 10, 2025, before being delayed to January 30, 2026. On December 23, 2025, it was announced the film would no longer receive a theatrical release and will instead premiere exclusively on Paramount+.

The Leak That Shook Paramount
On Saturday, April 12, 2026, a user on X posted two full clips with a caption that read: “Nickelodeon accidentally emailed me the entire Avatar aang movie.” Within hours, those posts had accumulated over 30 million views. By Sunday morning, the full 98-minute film was circulating freely across X, Reddit, and TikTok.
According to Variety, a source familiar with the situation said that the initial investigation determined that the vulnerability had nothing to do with Paramount’s systems.
Animator Julia Schoel responded on X, stating that “Paramount’s awful decision to remove the movie from theaters” does not justify leaking it.
